a finished garden snails quilt in patchwork and petals
Slowly but surely… see what I did there? 🐌
I finally finished piecing my Garden Snails quilt made with my newest fabric collection, Patchwork & Petals, and honestly I could not love these little snail friends more.
This quilt definitely wasn’t a super quick finish, but sometimes those slower projects end up becoming your favorites. There’s something really fitting about sewing a snail quilt slowly, right? 😊
Sewing the Garden Snails Quilt
The pattern is the Pen and Paper Patterns Garden Snails Quilt pattern and it felt like the perfect fit for Patchwork & Petals. Between the florals, playful colors, and quilt-inspired prints, the whole thing ended up feeling like the happiest little garden.
One of my favorite things about this collection is how easy it is to mix warm and cool tones together. The pinks, aquas, teals, yellows, and florals all play together in such a cheerful way, which made this quilt especially fun to piece.
I also love that each snail ended up with its own little personality depending on the fabric combinations.
Off to the Quilter ✨
As soon as I finished the quilt top, I packed it up and sent it off to the incredibly talented Knot and Thread to work her quilting magic on it.
Waiting for a quilt to come back from the quilter always feels like waiting for Christmas morning over here 😂 I already know the quilting is going to bring so much extra texture and movement to the design.
While I wait for it to come home, I’m trying to be responsible and prep my binding ahead of time because this quilt won’t be staying with me for very long… Once it comes back, this quilt is heading to Chicago to hang out in the Andover Fabrics booth during H+H Americas 💛
I’m so excited that Patchwork & Petals gets to make its way to the show, even though I can’t be there in person this year.
Now I just need to decide on binding… and I keep going back and forth between: pink stripes or scrappy stripes?
Both feel very right to me for completely different reasons.
The pink stripe would feel classic and playful, while the scrappy stripe binding could add even more color and movement around the edge of the quilt.
Honestly, I still haven’t fully decided 😅
What would you choose?
