patchwork and petals- a fabric collection
Okay… I’m really excited about this one 💛
This is Patchwork & Petals, my THIRD fabric collection with Andover Fabrics and honestly… seeing it all together like this completely stopped me in my tracks.
There’s something surreal about watching a collection move from tiny sketches and scattered ideas into actual fabric. Then somehow it turns into sample fabric, photos, stacks of yardage, and eventually projects made by people all over the place. It never stops feeling a little magical to me.
A Collection Rooted in Quilting & Florals
Patchwork & Petals is inspired by two things that always bring me back to center: quilting and florals. I wanted it to feel colorful and joyful while still having that cozy handmade feeling that quilting brings with it.
As a quilter myself, I spend a lot of time thinking about how fabric will actually be used. I think about:
quilt backs
bindings
blenders
fussy cutting
quilted bags
scrappy projects
texture and scale
Designing fabric is one of my favorite creative outlets because it combines so many things I love all at once.
Photographing the Collection
One of my favorite parts of the process is getting to photograph the fabric once strike offs and samples arrive.
I love styling the prints, pulling colors together, layering textures, and figuring out how to visually tell the story of the collection. Seeing all of the fabrics stacked together in these photos made everything finally feel real.
And honestly… I took SO many photos of this collection 😂
The Best Part of Fabric Design
As much as I love designing the fabric itself, my favorite part is always seeing what you create with it.
That’s one of the things I love most about fabric design compared to other areas of Surface Pattern Design. The work doesn’t stop once the artwork is finished. Instead, it becomes part of someone else’s creativity too.
Watching people turn fabric into quilts, bags, home decor, gifts, and meaningful handmade pieces is incredibly special and something I never take for granted.
Patchwork & Petals Is Available for Shops to Order Now
Patchwork & Petals is currently in quilt shop catalogs through Andover Fabrics, which means this is the stage where shops decide what will make its way onto their shelves.
If you have a favorite local quilt shop, it would truly mean so much to me if you mentioned the collection to them or asked if they plan on carrying it 💛
I genuinely cannot wait to see what everyone creates with this collection once it starts arriving in shops.
